February Board Meeting

The February Board of Education meeting will be held in Wolseley at Dr. Isman Elementary, 201 Garnet Street N.

The meeting begins at 9:30 until 12, and from 1:30 until 4:30.

As always, the public is welcome to attend.

 
Board of Education will "Drop Everything and Read"

Thousands of students in Prairie Valley School Division are being challenged by the Board of Education to take part in the DEAR challenge: to Drop Everything and Read.

This third annual event will take place at Dr. Isman Elementary School on Wednesday, February 10. The Board supports and encourages schools and families to provide students with reading opportunities everyday.

Iron Science Teachers win the Prairie Regionals!

Congratulations Iron Science Teachers! Prairie Valley School Division is proud of the four Iron Science Competition winners!

Tina Exner, Carissa Clark-Listrom, and Patrick Kossman from Balgonie, and Judson Trenholm of Kipling, won the Iron Science Competition Prairie regional playoffs on January 27th, 2010 at the Saskatchewan Science Center.

The competitors had to use candy as part of their science experiment and had to produce a six-minute skit to demonstrate a scientific concept. So far the team has won $2500, $625 of which will go to Greenall, and $625 to Kipling.

Their team "Alpha Wild" will be competing again at the national event in Calgary on March 12, 2010.

School Bus Cancellations

A decision to cancel bus service Division-wide because of inclement weather (including windchill and temperature) is based on the weather conditions across the Division at 6:00 a.m. as reported by Environment Canada.

If buses are cancelled Division-wide, notices are posted to this website by 6:30 am.

Please note: Individual school buses may be cancelled by individual bus drivers due to mechanical issues with their buses or road conditions on specific routes. Families will be notified directly by telephone if routes have been cancelled by individual bus drivers.

Inclement Weather

Prairie Valley School Division is committed to delivering safe and reliable transportation services to students. The Division follows a procedure for bus service cancellation for inclement weather.

Decisions regarding a Division-wide bus service cancellation is made by the Director in consultation with the Supervisor of Transportation based on the 6 a.m. Environment Canada reports.

H1N1 Preparations

Prairie Valley School Division continues to closely monitor the health and safety of our students and staff during this H1N1 pandemic. By working closely with the three Health Regions that overlap with the Prairie Valley School Division boundaries, we can assist in limiting the spread of influenza like illnesses.
